Name & Blog Name:  Merin @ Read and Reviewed
Tell us a little about your blog! I’m a mostly-YA focused blog with a mix of memes, reviews and personal updates. I worked for six years in an elementary school library (I’m now a first grade teacher), so I also love to read occasional children’s lit/MG titles as well. Right now my blog is fairly heavily focused on personal things — adapting to teaching first grade full time, balancing reading and my other interests, and poking at the way I currently blog to see if I should (and need to) make any changes — but my librarian heart really still loves to share my thoughts on books with anyone willing to read my posts.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!)  It’s probably this post wherein a wax poetically about my love for Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson (and the books written about him). I held a Mythology Week event last year, and this was one of the non-review posts I wrote up. I mentioned above that I love MG books, and this series is hands down my absolute favorite. Who can resist a hilariously snarky teenage boy narrating about his adventures with the Greek gods and goddesses?
Got anything special coming up we should know about? Not at the moment! I’m sort of tossing the idea about to do a Mythology Week Part Two-type thing at some point, but nothing has been definitively set in stone.

merin_bookandabeverageWhatcha reading? Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) It’s a library loan. I do love my libraries!
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? It’s the one I’m reading right now! I used to be able to juggle multiple books at one time, but my teacher-induced ADD has been showing, so it’s just better right now if I stick with one book at a time. 🙂
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? It’s too soon for me to say I’d recommend it, as I’m not far enough into it yet. I actually have never read a book by Lauren DeStefano, so was excited to see this one at the library, since she’s an author I’ve heard tons of good things about.

Whatcha drinking? Water. I actually am fairly boring when it comes to my beverages of choice. I usually have a coffee in the morning, and then water from then on out!
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? It depends on the mood I’m in. Sometimes I love a mug of hot chocolate, but really most of the time it’s just water. Sometimes I branch out a bit and add one of those Crystal Light packets to it. Exciting, no?
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Cinnamon Dolce Lattes from Starbucks. YUM!

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? Oh, man, I HATE these types of questions! I’ve read so many books that it’s always hard to narrow it down. I know I’d definitely recommend the Percy Jackson books (there are five, but SHH!), because of the whole all-time favorite thing. As for the other two, let’s go with In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters and Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? I’d say it’s when I finally decided to open up a bit more about my life outside of books on my blog. Between my State of Me posts (in which I basically recap what’s going on in my personal/work life) and my Merin’s Musings posts, I feel like my blog is starting to take on even more of my personality and getting away from just a review and memes spot. I like those personalization-type posts, because it gives me a place to share my opinions on things that aren’t just books!
Anything else you’d like to share? Just that I’m really excited to be a part of Book and a Beverage! Thanks for featuring me!

Thanks, Merin!! Who’s up for Mythology Week part two!? 🙂
I’m actually surprised I haven’t read Perfect Ruin yet! I loved Lauren’s Chemical Garden trilogy and this book is definitely on my list! 🙂
