Book and a Beverage

Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

Name & Blog Name:  Hi everyone! My name is Amber and my blog is called The Mile Long Bookshelf. You can also see me on my YouTube channel which has the same name. 🙂
Tell us a little about your blog! The Mile Long Bookshelf will be five years old at the end of this year, and it’s mainly a YA book blog although I will occasionally review Middle Grade and Adult books. It doesn’t just feature reviews, though — I do love writing my discussion posts, and giving blogging tips whenever I think of them.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) I wrote a review which I’m really proud of, but it’s not scheduled to publish for a couple of months! Hmm…*scrolls through posts* I had lots of fun writing this post about how I’ve been blogging since I was seven-years-old, because it was one of those posts that just seems to spill out of you. I hadn’t planned to write it – it just happened! My post on booktubing is also one of my favourites, for the same reason.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? On March 30th I will be starting a new blogging event called The Blog Notes Project. Have you ever felt discouraged about your blog? Do you have those days where you’re not even sure if people are reading it? Then you might want to sign up to this. It will be like a book swap between bloggers but with happy notes about each other’s blogs instead of books, and via email so anyone from anywhere in the world can join in. I’m hoping it will brighten the days of quite a few bloggers!

Whatcha reading? I’m in-between books at the moment, but I’m planning to read Landline by Rainbow Rowell next. I’ve had it for two weeks now and still haven’t started it, much to the disapproval of my friends…
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) The UK publisher kindly sent me a proof copy. I’m so excited to read it!
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? Well, it’s by one of my favourite authors and I’m looking forward to reading one of Rowell’s adult novels, as I’ve only read her two YA books so far.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? I haven’t started it yet but knowing how awesome Rainbow Rowell is, I’ll probably end up recommending it to everyone!

unnamedWhatcha drinking? A mango and passion-fruit smoothie. In a wine glass. Because why not?
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? I usually forget to drink while reading because I’m so caught up in the fictional world I’m reading about. Is that weird?
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Orange juice. Sorry for giving such a boring answer but it’s pretty much all I drink, except for the occasional smoothie or milkshake. I don’t even like tea and I’m British… *sigh*

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? YAY FOR BOOK RECOMMENDATION OPPORTUNITIES. You — yes, YOU reading this — you need to read Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins, City of Bones by Cassandra Clare and Far From You by Tess Sharpe. Oh, and A Boy Called Hope by Lara Williamson. And Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. … I knew I wouldn’t be able to pick just three.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? That’s a hard one. I don’t really have any proud reading/writing moments because I’m a very slow reader and I usually loathe everything I write – sad, but true – so I’ll have to go with my proudest blogging moment. Either when I interviewed David Levithan or when I turned up to a Cathy Cassidy book signing when I was younger and she recognised me from my blog. She gave me a hug and asked me to help out at the signing. In fact, I think the latter is one of my proudest moments in LIFE.
Anything else you’d like to share? Thank you to Brittany for interviewing me, this is probably the most fun I’ve had answering questions in ages! Oh, and I really like Pringles and unicorns. Yep, that’s what I’d like to share.

Thanks so much, Amber! The Blog Notes Project sounds fantastic! I’m really looking forward to that! It sounds like an amazing idea.
I am SO excited for LANDLINE! I can’t wait to hear what you think of it!!

This is such a fun feature!! Amber, I’m so jealous you have Landline! I love Rainbow Rowell, I can’t wait for it to come out and I’ll definitely check your blog to see what you think when you’re done:)
