Book and a Beverage

Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

Give a big welcome to Sarah from Exploring All Genres!

Name & Blog Name: Sarah from Exploring All Genres
Tell us a little about your blog! I started my blog back in September 2012 after doing a few book reviews on my personal blog. I wanted to get into book blogging but initially felt like I wouldn’t have much to contribute since I only read Fantasy and Science Fiction books. So I decided to use my blog as a way of expanding my reading into the many other genres that were out there and that I was ignoring. So far it has been a great experience and I have read so many books that I would have otherwise ignored and likely even been oblivious to their existence.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) That’s a tough one. Honestly there are a number of posts that I would probably consider m favorite. But if I had to pick just one I would pick the one about my husband reading. He is not the type to read books, he owns several but has never read them. So when I managed to get him to read an entire book in one day I just had to post about it.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? As a matter of fact I do. My blog will be getting an upgrade very soon to a hosted WordPress site, so the look of the blog may change a bit because of that. I have also been toying with an idea or two for another blog feature. I also plan on hosting a read-a-thon at some point — likely closer to the end of the year or beginning of next.
book

Whatcha reading? Mirror Sight by Kristen Britain
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) Purchased it. Heck, I pre-ordered this one the moment that option was available.
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? Well the Green Rider series has been one of those Fantasy series I have enjoyed since book one. Whenever a new book comes out I tend to put all other reading aside until I get read it. This one I held off reading for a bit, partially because I wanted to feature it and partially because I’ve been in a major reading slump lately.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? It’s the fifth book in the Green Rider series and it was published 16 years after the first book (Green Rider in 1998) in the series. So while it’s a slow to expand series I enjoy it a lot. I think anyone who enjoys Fantasy novels would enjoy this book, so of course I would recommend it, but you must read the previous four book first.

beverage

Whatcha drinking? Dr. Pepper.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Dr. Pepper.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Not to sound like a broken record, but…Dr. Pepper.
bonus

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche, Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg and Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment?
Having a few authors contact me after I have written a review of one of their books thanking me for the review and what I said about their book. The best part of this is when I continue to keep in touch with these authors on a friend basis well after these reviews.
Anything else you’d like to share? Nothing I can think of. Thanks for letting me join in on this and share some info with everyone about my blog and the books I love.

Thanks, Sarah! I love your blog name. Exploring all genres is really something I didn’t start off doing when I first started blogging but I feel like I’m making much better progress with it now! 🙂

  1. Ginger @ GReads!

I’m not much of a fantasy/sci-fi reader, but I do love me some Dr Pepper!! It’s probably my favorite soda to drink. I get sad if I want a soda & the place I’m at only has Pepsi products. Just not the same.

PS, Brittany I noticed there’s a string of letters just under the picture. Thought maybe it was just me seeing it, but someone else confirmed it. Wasn’t sure if you were aware of it & maybe a photo should be there?

Hmmm I do not see it, actually! I’ll check my code and see if something weird is going on!

  2. Kristen

I love Kristen Britain! I am behind though, I’ve only read the first three and maybe it’s time for a reread! I’ll definitely be checking out your blog. 🙂
