Name & Blog Name: My name is Carlisa and I blog at Confessions of Carlisa
Tell us a little about your blog! I’ve had a blog since probably middle school which was basically just a sporadic journal that I posted in whenever something exciting happened. It wasn’t until last May that I wrote my first book review. My second followed soon after in August 2014 (that “soon” was sarcastic). And then I got serious with book blogging this past February, making it my main focus and posting about 4-5 times per week. I read mostly YA fiction — fantasy, contemporary, dystopian, historical fiction. You name it. I also read Adult Fiction sometimes (and have found some of my all-time favorites there) but I tend to relate more to the YA characters. My blog consists mostly of reviews, discussions, and other bookish or non-bookish things I want to talk about. I’m an English major so when it comes to writing and discussing, I’m your gal.
I’m still a fairly new book blog so I’m working on getting more backlist reviews up and trying to get more discussions up, too!
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) Hmm, that’s a hard one! I really enjoyed thinking about the significance of the dystopian trend that I wrote about here. But I also felt pretty passionate about this post on the use of #porn in social media.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? Well it was my birthday this past Tuesday so that was my June excitement. And right now, I’m hoping to try Camp Nanowrimo in July, so fingers crossed it works out! I’ve never done something like this, but I hope to blog about it as it goes along.

book

Whatcha reading?
Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc): Purchased!
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? I just got this book in the mail and I’m so excited to read it! I’ve heard nothing but great things.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? Like I said, I haven’t read it yet. But it seems to me like a book that focuses on the positive and humor in life rather than the tragic. Something we all need. AND the movie is about to come out. What other reasons do you need?

beverageWhatcha drinking? Diet Coke. I don’t drink soda all that often but when I do, it’s Diet Coke. Wow, I just felt like that meme guy.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Honestly, probably water. It sounds lame but I have my water bottle on me basically all the time so that’s what I do.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! There’s a place back at school (where unfortunately I am not for the summer) that makes gourmet sodas. Which is essentially sodas mixed together with a bunch of different flavors for the purposes of deliciousness. They made a wonderful one with Mountain Dew mixed with blue raspberry and other things that I can’t remember but it was really good.

bonus

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling (this will ALWAYS be on this list for me), and Pride and Prejudice (yes, I am a proud Austen lover).
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? I think it was with the post about #porn in social media that I mentioned above. It was my first discussion I had posted and I felt very strongly about it. I had multiple friends share it on Facebook and then other people who I didn’t know share it also. It also has reached my highest viewed post ever. And these things may seem small, but it was a topic I cared about and to have other people read it and care about it too made it all the more special.
Anything else you’d like to share? Thank you so much for featuring me! You’re wonderful!

Thanks, Carlisa! I love your recommendations and I really look forward to reading your discussion post! It sounds like I’d have quite a few things to say about that too!
