The Lunar Chronicles (Re)Read Along | Sign-Ups + Cinder!

lunar chronicles read along

Did you love The Lunar Chronicles and want to re-read the series before WINTER comes out in November? Have you been meaning to start the series and are ready now that all the books will be out? Then now’s the perfect time for you to join THE LUNAR CHRONICLES (RE)READ ALONG!

Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles series is one of my all-time favorites and I knew I wanted to experience them all again to refresh my memory before the final book, WINTER, comes out this fall! I got the idea to host a read along for those who wanted to re-read and for those who have been holding out for WINTER before they started and it’s finally time to share this read along with all you book-lovers out there! (You have no idea how hard it was to hold onto this idea until it was finally time to share!)

I’m SO excited to be hosting this four-month long event with some help from the wonderful folks at Macmillan & Fierce Reads! They were kind enough to totally jump on board when I asked them if they wanted to be a part of the read along too and it wouldn’t be as fabulous as it’s shaping up to be without them!

Ready to get reading? Check out the details of the read along below!

WHEN

The read along will span from August 1 – December 7, 2015. Readers will be allotted four weeks to read each book. Here is the schedule for each book:

  • CINDER: August 1 – August 31
  • SCARLET: September 1 – September 30
  • CRESS: October 1 – October 31
  • WINTER: November 10 – December 7

NOTE: Since FAIREST is such a short read, it will not be officially included in the read along (it’s way too quick to dedicate a whole month to it)! If you want to read FAIREST too, the downtime between CRESS & WINTER might be a great time to squeeze it in!

HOW

  • Readers will have four weeks to read each book (though the entire month will be allotted).
  • At the end of each month, readers will be encouraged to write either a review of the book or some sort of recap post.
  • Readers are also encouraged to share updates (NON-SPOILERY) on social media using the hashtag #TLCReadAlong! At the end of each month, one person using the hashtag will be randomly selected to win a TLC-related prize! Contest is open to US participants only. Sorry! But we hope that regardless of country, you’ll join us in reading!
  • There will also be opportunities for fun Lunar Chronicles posts related to each book — think less book report questions, more fun & games!

WHO

ANYONE is invited to join in! Whether you’re re-reading the series in full, starting for the first time, or jumping in later on, we welcome you with open arms! If you’ve already read CINDER and want to wait to jump in at SCARLET (for example), or just want to wait until WINTER comes out and read along with us then, you’re welcome to hop in the read along at any time!
You may see many bloggers here but you do NOT have to be a blogger to join! This is literally a read along for ANYONE who wants to read the series. I’m just excited to experience the series with new readers and those who already love it and want to re-read. All readers welcome!

WHERE

  • READ ALONG DETAILS: The details of the read along will be posted here at The Book Addict’s Guide. Fierce Reads + Macmillan will also be cross-promoting the read along in conjunction with their exciting promos for WINTER as well! Be sure to check out their “Join the Resistance” campaign for SO much more Lunar Chronicles-related fun, opportunities, and swag giveaways!
  • TWITTER + INSTAGRAM: Share updates and photos with the hashtag #TLCReadAlong! (No spoilers, please.) At the end of each month, one person’s entry using the hashtag will be selected to win a Lunar Chronicles-related prize! (Sorry, but giveaway winners must have a US address that we can ship to.)

I’m so happy you’re hosting this! Thank you. I love this series and I can’t wait to re-read it (again). And celebrate Winter’s release with a community of Lunar Chronicles enthusiasts. I’m a little late joining your (re)read-along, so I’ll read Cinder and Scarlet in Sept, Cress and Fairest in October.:)

I’m super excited for this! I love the series and was thinking about re-reading them when I found your post. I especially love the ideas for the plus post and will definitely do a few of them. Thanks for hosting this. 🙂

    Hallo, Hallo! 🙂

I am joining the RAL a bit late, I see, however, the blessing for me is knowing ALL the books are at my local library! I’m going to be checking them out as I go along whilst blogging + tweeting my reactions as I read! I first learnt of this series via the girls behind “Oh the Books” blog as well as other readers who were bookishly delighted or intrigued! I know it has to do with my participation in Sci Fi November (2013 & 2014) as it was quite a popular series! 🙂 I wanted to try my hand at reading it this year, either for SFN or independent of it as well.

Since I’m borrowing the books – I’m on a fortnight read per month, unless I get lucky and renew the borrow! Thereby, I might sort out a way to settle my thoughts in the break-down you’ve given the novels whilst posting a cumulative review at the end! I am going to keep this flexible! I marked a note to read FAIREST in-between the last two novels; given the fact my library has ALL of these lovelies, I’m certain their going to get WINTER too!

    How nice for me!? 🙂

Look forward to meeting all of you during the RAL! Til soon!

I was planning to reread the books before the release of Winter anyway, so I’m definitely going to sign up. (Even though I don’t think I’ll be stretching the books out for the entire month.) This is a great idea!

Oh wow, this sounds amazing! I am definitely going to jump in with this, especially since there’s a month to read each book. 🙂 I’ll be reading at least up until Cress and maybe with Winter too, assuming I buy it before then. This is going to be fun! Especially with the Bonus Posts! I already want to do all of them <3 I'll be doing my sign up post later today!

I haven’t completely decided I’ll be joining yet, but I’m definitely considering it. I’ve decided I really like “re-reading” via audiobooks and checked Overdrive to see if my library has the Lunar Chronicles audiobook – and they do! It’ll be hard to resist the idea of reuniting with Thorne! 😛

      Hallo Asti!

🙂 Nice seeing you here – was just lamenting about you & the other girls of OTBs below in my comment! Knew you might be hugging close to this RAL; you were one of the ones who convinced me to read this series! lol Audiobook versions — now that’s something I should have thought of myself! Would be nice to read the book whilst listening to it, so I will see what I can do! 🙂

So excited for this re-read of the series! This summer I included Cinder for the first time in my list of required books for a Children’s/YA Lit. course I teach and it’s been so fun to expose my college students to the series! I’m hoping they continue reading the rest of the series.

Oh my gosh, I’m so excited about this! I read the books pretty spread out, and so I definitely want to reread them closer together before Winter comes. I need the memory refresher! And also these are just so much fun, I can’t wait to fall in love with the books all over again. 🙂

I love this idea!!! I was thinking about rereading them on my own, but now I’ll have to join this! I actually reread Cinder earlier this year as part of a group project for a class I took, so I’ll probably just reread Scarlet and Cress. I can’t WAIT for Winter!!!

      Maggie!

Imagine seeing you here! 🙂 Wow. How wicked keen is this!? I put “Cinder” on hold from my library whilst happily celebrating that they own all the books! Going to be an interesting RAL by far! 🙂 I was both curious and trepiderious about starting this series, so it will be interesting to see what I think as the books progress forward! Top cheers!

I am SO excited for this! I got to meet Marissa at YALLWEST this year and she’s SO sweet, and knowing that Winter is going to be such an epically long book means I really want to have the rest of the series fresh in my mind when I dive into it! Thanks for hosting this, Brittany 🙂
