YA Aesthetics: Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater

One of my favorite things to peruse on Tumblr is a little thing called the “YA Lit Meme” or “YA Aesthetics“. I haven’t seen much of it on book blogs outside of Tumblr but every time I see one, I pretty much fall in love. In case you’re not familiar with the masterpieces on Tumblr, YA Aesthetics are essentially photo collages (as well as other representations — but my favorites happen to be the collages) featuring physical representations of prominent things in the book — important places, what a character might look like or wear, special objects, even quotes.

I’ve been re-reading The Raven Cycle in anticipation of THE RAVEN KING coming out this year and hoo boy, it’s been turning my feelings upside down again! You don’t really need a re-read review of BLUE LILY, LILY BLUE so I thought I’d dive back into the YA Aesthetics again since these books are always so visual for me! I can picture everything just perfectly and although it’s hard to find pictures in the real world that perfectly mirror what I’m seeing in my head, I think the ones below are pretty dang close! Check ’em out:

So what do you think? Is this how you pictured Blue Lily, Lily Blue? I was kind of astonished to find that picture of the rocking chairs and so perfect that there was even a Coke sign behind them!! I also love the phone/sewing/cat room (which in this picture just looks more like a sewing room) and the kitchen/bath/laundry haha!!

And if you love collages for YA Lit, you should definitely check out What Sarah Read! She’s been creating photo collages for her reviews and they’re just lovely! I adore this one she did for PASSENGER by Alex Bracken!

What do you think of YA Lit Memes & YA Aesthetics? Have you seen some awesome ones on Tumblr? Which books do you want to see represented next?

I love your collage! And YES I live for those tumblr collages! I didn’t know there was a particular place to find them. I always see such great ones for The Raven Cycle. Sarah does make awesome collages too, I’m always jealous and then immediately enticed by whatever she is reading! 🙂

I also love these tumblr meme’s. I create mood boards and books looks on my blog and I also like to add them to a review. I’m a visual person so I love the photographs in these memes.

I don’t use tumblr as I should. I really should get better at this. I didn’t know about this, but I’m definitely going to look through it now. I love this collage!! It fits the series perfectly. And yes, Sarah is great at creating collages!
