Time, Space, Continue ‘Em [2]

I feel like I’ve been reading a lot of science-fiction lately and I’ve really been enjoying those sci-fi books that I’ve read within the last couple years. Today I’m combining one concept that I’ve always enjoyed (time travel, alternate universes) and one I never thought I’d love so much (outer space) and assembling a of series and authors that are worth the recommendations and future reads, hence… TIME, SPACE, CONTINUE ‘EM

TIME TRAVEL

I adore time travel books. I’ve always been fascinated with the concept and there’s SUCH a long list of books I haven’t even touched yet that I really need to get to. Here are a few that I’ve read recently!

  • ONCE UPON A KISS by Robin Palmer: Think time travel in terms of Hot Tub Time Machine … Zoe’s life is exactly the same, except now it’s happening in 1986 instead of 2006! | Goodreads
  • FUTURE SHOCK by Elizabeth Briggs: A team is assembled to travel through time by a somewhat scary “corporation” | Goodreads

alternate universe

I think I may love alternate and parallel universes even more than time travel. It’s SUCH an interest concept and something that could be possible (I mean, we would never know, right?) and it’s so neat to see the “what could be”s and “what could have been”s.

  • SNAPSHOT by Brandon Sanderson: This one isn’t quite alt universe but it kind of is! Essentially, a “snapshot” of the real world is created and a special sort of police officer rewalks the snapshot to pick up clues on investigations.  | Goodreads
  • A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC by V.E. Schwab: So this is really fantasy but I love the sort of “alternate London” aspects going on here with the four different Londons! Alt worlds + fantasy combined = <33 | Goodreads
  • ALCATRAZ VS THE EVIL LIBRARIANS: More of a secret world and sort of alternate reality that most people just don’t know about. A fun MG series! | Goodreads
  • A WEEK OF MONDAYS by Jessica Brody: High school meets Groundhog Day in this cute and fun read from Jessica Brody! | Goodreads
  • THE LOVE THAT SPLIT THE WORLD by Emily Henry: I adored this incredibly interesting alt-universe, star-crossed story. | Goodreads

space and aliens

I didn’t use to be a big sci-fi person and I ALWAYS shied away from books in space or ones that dealt with aliens or alien invasions… But I guess I’ve been reading the right books because I’ve found some VERY enjoyable ones! Like… some of my absolute favorites.

  • WE ARE THE ANTS by Shaun David Hutchinson: What happens when aliens tell you the world is going to end and you’re responsible? Are the aliens even real? An interesting tale from Shaun David Hutchinson | Goodreads
  • GEMINA by Aime Kaufman & Jay Kristoff: The Illuminae Files continue in this incredible story still set amazingly in space | Goodreads
  • ARMADA by Ernest Cline: Like a video game come to life! | Goodreads

There are ohhhh so many more amazing sci-fi books including these elements but I’m just sharing some of my favorites today. Which of these books top your favorites list? Which ones MUST I read next?

  1. Stormy

Ahh, I adore time travel books! I haven’t read any in so long. . . the more I read, the more I tend to read mostly contemporary, which I DO love and is my favorite, but this feature is definitely making me want to pick up some sci-fi again. I can’t believe I haven’t read ANY books on this list except for the Shades of Magic trilogy!

  2. Morgan @ The Bookish Beagle

You are so clever, I love the post title! I need to read most of the books on your list- I loved ADSOM of course and A Week of Mondays sounds fun! As far as other books, I loved All Our Yesterdays and have heard good things about Loop. I really loved Starflight, Stitching Snow, and Across the Universe!
