Book and a Beverage

Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

Name & Blog Name: Iona @ Where Is Wallis
Tell us a little about your blog! I started a YouTube Channel to feature books on but I realised there’s a lot of things I didn’t want to/ have time to make a video for so I opened up my blog to run along side my YouTube where I can post reviews that I don’t want to go on my channel (the snarky ones) , quick discussions, book photography, etc…
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) The Book Haul That Never Was. I usually film my book hauls but I decided to do a blog post including pictures and that was a lot of fun, except my kitten kept trying to knock the piles of books over which was a nuisance! But he’s cute so I forgave him.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? I am finishing my degree soon, so that means in a couple of months I should have loads of time to dedicate to my blog. Making better posts etc… I currently have been a bit slacking as I just don’t have the time to put in a 100%.

Whatcha reading?
Fearsome Dreamer by Laure Eve.
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc) I received this from Hot Key Books (a UK publisher for those in the rest of the world that might not know).
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? It has a really stunning cover, I don’t know if my picture is doing it justice but you need to check this cover out in real life. It has these lines embossed on the cover that make it look like a circuit board. The Sequel also looks stunning, but I haven’t seen it in person yet.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? It’s set in a world where there is a small island called Angel Tar that chose to cut itself off from the rest of World (World is the place’s name) and they reverted back to the middle ages. The rest of World is in a massive technological age where they practically live their lives in virtual simulations. Then there’s these people, Dreamers, who have the ability to ‘slip’ or teleport to other places and have strange prophetic dreams. I’m not very far into it so I’m not entirely clear what’s going on but the intrigue is keeping me turning pages and Laure Eve’s writing has a magical quality to it which I’m loving.

Whatcha drinking? Hot Chocolate. It’s not as cold as it used to be here in England, but it’s still not warm so I’m treating myself to a lovely Hot Choc with lots of squirty cream (who cares about calories really). I love to drink this cuddled up in bed with a good book and forget about the world, and my impending deadlines, for a while.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Usually tea or flavoured water. I’m a sugar fiend, so I can’t drink anything that’s bland or bitter. I need my sugar. Hot Chocolate is a bit of a treat at the moment.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Volvic Lemon & Lime water. Not the stuff with sweetner, the stuff with real sugar. Sugar, sugar, sugar. I probably like it more than it’s healthy to. I’ve definitely mentioned it too much here.

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? Gah! This is a hard one. I’m a bookworm, I don’t randomly recommend 3 books; I find out people’s particular reading interests, recommend 10 books, and then 5 more just in case they finish those.  If I had to pick though I’d say, Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman, The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood and Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. I think those books are timeless and that most people could get something out of at least one of them.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? When I hit 1,000 subscribers on YouTube. Since then I have now doubled my subscriber count, but that was the day I knew that people actually enjoyed my videos and I was actually good at something I had put a lot of effort into. I guess that’s not really a blogging/ writing moment, but it’s to do with reading and similar things so I’m including it.
Anything else you’d like to share? Obviously I’d like to plug my YouTube Channel a bit more and just thank you Brittany for having me on here! This is a great thing that you’re doing to help other bloggers get noticed.

Thanks so much, Iona! So happy to hear more about you and I will definitely have to check out your YouTube channel! I haven’t watched a lot of booktuber videos but I would really like to try to get into that some more! 🙂

Hi Iona! *waves* First of all, sugar is delicious and you’re right, who really cares about calories? Lol. I will have to go watch your Youtube videos. Like Brittany, I don’t follow very many book tubers, but I want to! I just need to discover them.
