Book and a Beverage

Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

Give a big welcome to Gabriela from Great Exhortations!

Name & Blog Name: My name is Gabriela and my blog’s name is Great Exhortations.
Tell us a little about your blog! I started this blog to document my reading and interact with other bookworms in April of 2015. Six months ago today, in fact! I chose the name because I love Great Expectations, but also because I figured my blog would feature a lot of rants about books.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!)  I’m partial to my Crossover Camaraderie posts, where I matched together compatible characters from different books. It’s really fun to play matchmaker with your favorite books, and I would love to see other bloggers get in on it.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? The next few weeks are going to be crazy busy. I have my six month blogiversary (is that the term?), my boyfriend’s birthday, a trip to Salem, my birthday, Halloween, and a work trip to Puerto Rico, all within the next two weeks! I’m most excited to work on some bookish travel posts.

book

Whatcha reading? I recently finished Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo.
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc): This is from the library, but book and a beverage six of crowsI’m pretty sure I’ll be buying my own copy.
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? I really enjoyed it! And just look at it. This book is too beautiful. Those black-edged pages are gorgeous.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? I was looking forward to this book for months. You can’t market a book as “Ocean’s Eleven meets Game of Thrones” and expect me not to get excited. Thankfully, I thought it lived up to the hype. Books featuring groups of misfits working together are a sure way to my heart.

beverage

Whatcha drinking? Today I’m drinking coffee.
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? It depends on what my plans are for the rest of the day. If I’m going to be blogging (like today), I drink coffee. But if I’m just going to be hanging out with my roommates, we tend to drink tea together.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Probably a Belgian beer. I love a nice witbier.

bonus

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? I absolutely never stop talking about Melina Marchetta (I’m sure she’s mentioned in well over half my posts), so I have to recommend Saving Francesca. I also have to recommend Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, since it’s my blog’s namesake. My last pick would probably be The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart because I read it last month and it was amazing.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? I’m thrilled any time someone says says they’re going to read the Lumatere books at my suggestion. I love that series so much that it’s an honor to pass it on.
Anything else you’d like to share? Please read the Lumatere Chronicles. And thanks for having me on your blog, Brittany!

Thanks, Gabriela! Well I DO need to read The Lumatere Chronicles… And YES a bit witbier! Always a good choice!!
