Book and a Beverage [156] – Cassie from Rants and Raves of a Bibliophile

Book and a Beverage

Welcome back to BOOK AND A BEVERAGE!

In case you don’t know the deal about Book and a Beverage, it’s a very simple yet fun feature: We read books, we drink beverages, we take pictures of them and then I share your photos and a little about you to the blogging world!

Give a big welcome to Cassie from Rants and Raves of a Bibliophile!

Name & Blog Name: Hi, I’m Cassie from Rants and Raves of a Bibliophile
Tell us a little about your blog! I started my blog in 2011, but vacated it for a while due to graduate school. During January of this year, I decided to go all out and fully bring my blog back. I believe that book blogging is a good outlet, beyond Goodreads and Twitter, to connect with the bookish community. My blog consists of Young Adult book reviews/recommendations, some adult Fantasy reviews, monthly recaps, and I try to participate in bookish memes to stay connected with other readers and discover new books.
What’s been your favorite post you’ve written so far? (Link us up!) My favorite post so far has been my Book Review in Photography for Autofocus by Lauren Gibaldi. I had so much fun writing the review and taking pictures that reflect the novel.
Got anything special coming up we should know about? I’m in LOVE with Halloween, so I am in the process of creating fun, daily blog posts to put up throughout October. Expect book reviews, movie reviews, crafts, recipes, giveaways, and other Halloweenish fun!!!

book

Whatcha reading? Under Rose-Tainted Skies by Louise Gornall
Where did it come from? (Library, purchased, publisher, etc): I purchased it from The Book Depository (the book was recently released in the UK (July 2016), but doesn’t release in the US until January 2017).
Any special reason you chose to feature this book? Here lately, I have been trying to challenge myself to read books out of my comfort zone. And I think reading this book is a good start to that challenge.
What’s important that we should know about this book? Would you recommend it? I just started reading it, but so far I adore it. The author, Louise Gornell, is so passionate and fierce on Twitter, and her voice definitely shines through this book. I think this is a very important book for readers to dive into, because it’s very rare to discover characters that are realistic, awkward, brave, and vulnerable.

beverage

Whatcha drinking? Today, I’m drinking a cold Hubert’s Blood Orange flavored lemonade…YUM!
What’s your favorite thing to drink while reading? Coffee or a Chai tea latte.
Favorite beverage of all time. Go! Ummm…this is so hard. Last night I had a Green Tea Frappucino from Starbucks, and I kept thinking about how amazing it taste. So yeah, I would say a Green Tea Frappucino is my favorite drink (shhh…don’t tell Diet Coke or coffee I said this).

bonus

Top 3 Books - Book and a Beverage

What are your top three books you would recommend to other people? The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, Uprooted by Naomi Novik, and The Winner’s Curse (basically the whole trilogy) by Marie Rutkoski.
What’s your proudest blogging/reading/writing moment? My proudest, but most stressful, writing moment would have to be completing and defending my 70+ page thesis on female characters depicted in Steampunk Literature. I don’t know how authors do it, but giving birth to words is hard.
Anything else you’d like to share? Confession time: Book and a Beverage is my all-time favorite blogging feature on the internet, so I can’t believe I’m actually participating in this feature. Brittany, THANK YOU for allowing me to participate and gush over two of my favorite things: books and beverages.

Thanks, Cassie! Oh my gosh, you are so awesome! SO happy to have you on Book and a Beverage! Yessss Halloween!!! Is it fall yet? And I adore your recommendations. THE NIGHT CIRCUS. So amazing.
