The Deja Vu Review [9]

The Deja Vu Review is a new Sunday feature with mini-reviews from books I’ve read before I began my blog at The Book Addict’s Guide! Since I’ve been reading my whole life and only started my blog back in April of 2012, this is my opportunity to revisit some older books and share some mini-reviews of those that didn’t quite make it into the blog spotlight after the initial read.

This Week’s TopicA book with a one-word title

Insatiable (Insatiable, #1)Insatiable by Meg Cabot
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
My Original GR Review: Really a very disappointing book from one of my favorite authors. I loved every other one of Cabot’s books, but this one was over the top, unbelievable (even for a vampire story) and had a ridiculous climactic action scene. Sadly, I was terribly disappointed and most certainly will not be continuing with the series. I finished for the sake of completing the book but I can’t believe how disappointed I was with this novel. I hope if Meg puts out more books, they are far better than this one. I hate to rip on it, but that’s how amateur I felt it was.
Comments: Yep, I still feel pretty let down by this one! I thought the story was pretty cheesy and I wasn’t really a fan. I didn’t even pick up the second book.

Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3)Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
My Original GR Review: An interesting ending to the series, but I have to say, I was a little disappointed. There was a giant build up to the end of the entire novel and it seemed to all end too quickly and I was confused as to what was going on at first. The end caught me by surprise because I didn’t know it was happening. All-in-all, it was still a good read, enjoyable, and a must to finish the series.
Comments:  I reread The Hunger Games before the movie came out and I think I’d really like to reread Catching Fire and Mockingjay when I get the chance. I know I was initially disappointed in it, but I’d love to see if anything changes if I read it a second time. I barely remember what happens now too!
