The Deja Vu Review [8]

The Deja Vu Review is a new Sunday feature with mini-reviews from books I’ve read before I began my blog at The Book Addict’s Guide! Since I’ve been reading my whole life and only started my blog back in April of 2012, this is my opportunity to revisit some older books and share some mini-reviews of those that didn’t quite make it into the blog spotlight after the initial read.

This Week’s Topic: A book from your favorite author

The Boy Next Door (Boy, #1)The Boy Next Door by Meg Cabot
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Comments: I’ve always loved Meg! As you may know, I’m a HUGE fan of her adult works (Insatiable aside – That’s a story for a different day), the Heather Wells series especially a favorite of mine. The Boy Next Door was an interesting read for me because it’s written as a series of emails, notices, and letters without any actual narration. I thought it was a neat concept and although it’s not one of my top favorites of Meg’s, I still highly enjoyed it and was intrigued by the different style.

Delirium (Delirium, #1)Delirium by Lauren Oliver
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
My Original GR Review (12/3/11): I thought I was going to enjoy this book, but I was surprised at how much! I’m fascinated by any books that are based on a utopian/dystopian society, so I was drawn to it right off the bat, but it’s got everything I love in books. Mystery, love, intrigue, suspense, action… Once I got into the meat of the plot, I couldn’t put it down. Pretty awesome. Really can’t wait to read the next book!
Comments: I’m definitely still in love with the Delirium trilogy! I absolutely love Lauren Oliver’s writing in these books. It’s romantic, somewhat poetic without getting to cheesy or overdone, and I loved the story that it told. I’d love to reread this one if I ever have the time! Someday… This is one of those books that’s staying on my shelf forever!
