The Deja Vu Review [1]

So, after my first self-developed feature didn’t work out (Freaky Friday = fail), I was a little discouraged about coming up with something of my own. After posting review after review of awesome books that I just finished reading, sometimes I get a little wistful that I didn’t have my blog back in the day when I read this book or this book because there are still so many reviews I wish I could share even though I’ve read these books long before a book blog even popped into my head. So I am happy to announce the first Deja Vu Review!

The Deja Vu Review is a new Sunday feature with mini-reviews from books I’ve read before I began my blog at The Book Addict’s Guide! Since I’ve been reading my whole life and only started my blog back in April of 2012, this is my opportunity to revisit some older books and share some mini-reviews of those that didn’t quite make it into the blog spotlight after the initial read.

This Week’s Topic: A book or series you’d love to recommend

One For The Money (Stephanie Plum, #1)One For The Money by Janet Evanovich
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Read: February 2011
Comments: Ah, the first time I fell in love with Stephanie Plum! I was a little hesitant to start this series because I hadn’t known anyone who had read them yet, but I heard it was fun and somewhat of a mystery series, although not necessarily a murder mystery. After finishing, I loved it and immediately went to go pick up more in the series!
Anecdote: I still remember reading this during the great Chicago blizzard of Feb 2011! We got snowed in and I couldn’t even leave my parking lot all day, so I stayed inside, made coffee & hot chocolate, and read One for the Money!

The Giver (The Giver, #1)The Giver by Lois Lowry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Read: Originally, Spring 2000
Re-Read: April 2011
Comments: I first read this book in grade school for an assignment and I loved it. Re-reading it over 10 years later, it was still a fantastic young adult novel. It was the first-ever dystopian book I read and it’s a topic I still love over 10 years later!

Now, I know Sunday is not a terribly popular day for blog posts, so I thought I’d involve a little reader participation as well! These are quick, easy posts so if you like the idea and you’d like to participate as well, here’s a little linky for you to hook up!
Since WordPress kind of sucks (seriously, WP… Just allow JavaScript. I’m getting really annoyed here…), you’ll have to click the link to add a link. Sorry for the extra step 🙁

Thanks! I’ll be doing it every week with a new topic if you’d like to join in 🙂 it’s brand new so it’d be great if other people developed an interest 🙂

Oh! I like this idea. Though I am so very behind on reviews, that little shorts like this might actually be the only way I get caught up- haha!

Thanks! I have um… zero takers so far haha! But it was the first post, so I’ll keep it up for the next couple weeks and put the topics up early in case other people want to join in. Since most of my GR reviews are short little posts, I’ve actually been copying straight from GR for some 🙂

Cool idea! I used to do something similar called Sincerely Sunday that was a mini-review type thing (there was other stuff involved, too), but I got a bit away from it because of time issues. I almost got The Giver the other day, but I decided to wait until I got my birthday B&N card from my parents, lol.

Love this idea! I do something similar (very infrequently) highlighting favorite books I’ve read in the past. So many good books fall through the cracks – it’s nice to highlight books that aren’t new releases! YAY!
