It’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by the wonderful blog at The Broke and the Bookish! This week’s topic:
Ten Books I Almost Put Down But Didn’t
Hmmm, this is an interesting topic. DNFs are a tricky issue and usually I’m okay with putting a book down. I have a shelf full of DNFs that every once in a while, I feel guilty about but then again, I don’t because I truly wasn’t enjoying them. (I also feel like this list will be full of all the sads and frustration so sorry in advance!) I didn’t really have any books that I was happy I almost put down but didn’t so really, just a sad list here! 🙁
These poor MCs. I tried and I tried. I spent a whole book with them! Still, we did not get along. Some I fared better with because of plot. Some I got more frustrated with because of plot. But these are the ones that I just couldn’t identify with much at all.
The characters were okay on these, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the overall theme. Super feminist? Pro-cheating? Just not my cup of tea. I don’t have anything wrong with feminism, of course, but it’s not a main theme I really enjoy reading about directly.
A poor adaptation. Weird pacing. Unbelievable plot. I just couldn’t get on board with the overall story. I was interested in some of what was going on and was able to finish but they certainly didn’t make and top lists for me.
