If We Were Having Coffee… January 26, 2018

Jamie from The Perpetual Page-Turner has been doing a series called “If We Were Having Coffee” that’s a nice blog series started by many bloggers out there to catch people up on the odds and ends of life that doesn’t fit into a pretty blogging box.

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that I just made this coffee with my new French press! I just bought one this last week because I’ve been making truly terrible coffee and that was just silly since French presses aren’t even that expensive! I’m working on getting the ratios right but I’m catching on!

If we were having coffee… I would tell you HELLO! My posts have been less frequent because it’s just been so busy! Holiday and candles and work… it’s been a lot! But I’m trying to keep posting.

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that I actually just quit my full-time job to take Novelly Yours full-time! EEP! I’m staying a couple more weeks to help train but soon I’ll be a full-time chandler! (Yes, that really is what candle-makers are called)

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I just made a deal for my first wholesale order to have Novelly Yours candles in a bookstore!!! I won’t divulge details yet but I’m incredibly excited for it!

If we were having coffee… I’d ask what you were reading and tell you that I’m almost done with MORNING STAR, the third book in the Red Rising saga. It took me a little bit to really connect with the series but now I think the characters are really shining!

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I actually went to the Pierce Brown even this past week and it was so much fun! He’s really funny and a bit of a rambler but also very well-spoken at the same time.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I’m SOOO ready to be full-time with candles. I know I already said that but I’m just ready to do all of the things we haven’t had time for or have been putting off. I want to keep the house clean, finish decorating (four years later), and move some clutter around.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I’m hoping to do a lot this year, like take some vacations as well as attend conferences. I’m hoping to be at ALA Annual and BEA/Book Expo! I just need to make the plans.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I’ve had trouble finding five-star books lately, but I read UNEARTHED this month and I enjoyed it SO MUCH. I’ve also been enjoying the Red Rising saga and they’ve come close but may still be four-star books. We’ll see how the rest of MORNING STAR goes!

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you about all the books I want to read this year! I know I want to read NEVERNIGHT and really try to read more of my physical ARCs this year. I barely read any books in print last year because I just didn’t have the time so I’m hoping moving full-time with candles will allow me more reading time!

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that my SIX year blogoversary is coming up in a few months and I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for six years! I really want to get back into it once I have more time because I still love this corner of the internet and this community!!

Thanks for sharing this coffee date with me! I’m glad I got to catch everyone on up on everything that’s been going on. Life has been non-stop, with so many things to do, and I really am trying to keep up with my blog because I’m still so proud of it and so happy with this little corner of the internet. I’m okay with slowing down and things being a little bit different but I definitely don’t want to lose it!

Whoop, whoop! Almost six years! It does get hard to find those 5 star reads…but when you do, it’s pure magic. If we were having coffee, I’d cheers you 🙂

Love this post, and the idea “If we were having coffee…”.
Congratulations on your new full-time gig, sounds wonderful…nice to be creative and have passion for your trade. Also looking forward to hearing more about your deal to have your candles in a bookstore. I think I spend equal parts looking at books and looking at gift items in book stores…drives my husband crazy!

OMG B CONGRATS!!! I was so hoping that you’d be announcing this soon (quitting your job for candles FT). I went to buy one of the new boxes and they were already sold out, so I can tell you’re already killing it <33 SO APPROPRIATE THAT CANDLEMAKERS ARE CALLED CHANDLERS.

Congrats on all the exciting things going on with Novelly Yours, Brittany!! I hope you love being a full-time chandler (what an amazing job title, btw), and I can’t wait to hear about where I can find your candles in bookstores. Also, French press is where it’s at!! I use mine every day for both coffee and tea.
